1:1 Cylon Helmet

Invasion!
Try these new links. Google has changed the way that blogger has worked and has changed the entire interface, so I'm trying to compensate. Disregard the links at the bottom of the page. PDF. http://www.4shared.com/file/pmIlVijc/Centurian_Helmet_Beta_20.html PDO. http://www.4shared.com/file/pmIlVijc/Centurian_Helmet_Beta_20.html I just had to post the most recent shot of the Cylon. Yeah, I know it still needs work, but I think it's really come a long way!

All new today.....

This is a model that I contracted to have created in Metasequoia, to be produced
as a cardstock model, to take that model and turn it into a resin kit for a resin
model vendor. Unfortunately, we have since parted company, so I'm doing this on
my own. I have to credit Big Skip for the original model and SJS (Steve Bondy) for
correcting that model and making changes. I have textured a version of this and
when this beta build is done and the model is perhaps corrected one last time I'll be releasing this model, for free to the card modeling fans. This is the beginning of a 1:1 full sized Cylon.

Below are a few images of the original model, the new model and the build as well as some of the directions.

Sorry, got so into it that after I set the five layers of primer. I start laying fiberglass, after that I was committed... More to come...

Below are some of the more recent shots of what I've been up to.....

After fiberglassing the interior of the head, I used PlayDoh to build out a basic shape to follow with the polyester resin paddle and started laying out thick layers. Ususally it's best to lay down successive thing layers, but I wanted to use up some stale Bondo, so I took this approach knowing that I could sculpt it to shape later. After laying down the Bondo, I went after it with a rasp, to start sculpting out the shape. I've included a BW screen of the actual model (CG) from the series, to show what I'm going for. The head was always to narrow and some of the compound curves needed to be smoothed and shaped as well.
When not working on the mesh, I'm working on the sculpt, or working on the eye electonics. or the soundboard from a Birthday card. As always, more to come...

New updates, recent work..

I want everyone to see every stage of this sculpt and build...

I will never again have someone call me a recaster, or have some insipid fool lie about everything I've worked on.

Although the images make look rough to those that have never sculpted before... I assure you the the final product will look exactly like a screen used, CG model, if it's the last thing I do. ;)

There are times when even I wonder if I can pull it off, but I remember that I've done it before and I know that with the right determination..... Anything is possible.

Slowly the creature becomes itself....

The orignal model that was never finished..... Tell me that things heven't changed..??

Stay tuned, same Bat Channel, Same Bat Time!

........aaaaannnnnnnndddd We're back......

350 Scale Akira Class

Final update: This will be the last update on this thread. I've reworked the unfold and reorganized all of the parts, for those that complained about how difficult this might be to build. Frankly, I think that anyone with a modicom of intelligence and a more that novice level of skill should be able to make the minor corrections needed to build this model to scale. Since this is a free model and I am profiting from this in no way, I would think people might be happy to have a card model that is a bit of challange and that will produce a ship that is other wise unavailable.

I would suggest building the sections one at a time and before assembling sections one to another, study how the parts go together and think about what changes you might need to make and how to make them. This model is not a "Tab-A fits into Slot-B" model. I will have other versions of the Akira, but they will be in separate threads. Give it a try and Keep on Trekkin! =/\=

Note; I've added some graphics pages and schematics as an added extra. There is no
copyright information, nor are there any directions.

Update: I've pulled this model apart and have started reworking the entire unfolding and assembly process. You will still need to have some basic mechanical reasoning, be able to make minor corrections and have some understanding of spatial relationships.

Update: I've pulled this back out of mothballs to get back to work on it. I put up the developement kit to see if any of those that complained about it would do anything with the files to add to, enhance, or improve what I had done. Since I've seen no proof that anyone has done anything with this, other than download it. I'm moving forward on redoing the whole thing, thus virtually all of the original pictures have been removed. Check back often for news and updates. The devekopement kit is still available.

Update: I've added an "Advanced Starter Kit" for this card model. This kit includes all of the original BC Developement data, the .nif file, an Object file and an .mqo file. This is for all of the fine modelers that can't wait for me to finish my version of this and would to do the work on their own. Enjoy and keep on Trekkin!
=/\= I will be adding the revised 350th .pdo and .pdf files soon.

Here's the link, just copy and paste. ;)=/\=

Update: I'm reworking the unfold on this model and looking at doing different textures. I will update this entry with a new unfold and will delete the current
images.

Starbase Control Room Diorama

Here's a Starbase Control Room Diorama. You will have to make small tubes
for the table and the chair. I replaced the generic starfield background
with a colorfull nebula.

High Res MU Agonizer

Here's a one sheet agonizer from the TOS episode "Mirror Mirror."
Build-up and directions to follow. As always, anyone who wishes
can size this to fit their needs and do as they wish with this
file.
